Beneficiary At Retirement
Overview
Keeping your beneficiary(ies) up to date ensures your benefits will be handled according to your wishes should you die.

If you do not have a spouse at retirement, you may name anyone to receive the survivor benefit if you pass away.
If you are in a spousal relationship, that person is your primary beneficiary unless there is a signed Spouse's Waiver on file. If a Spouse's Waiver is completed, you may name anyone to receive the survivor benefit.
Requirements
Forms and Documentation
To add/remove a spouse at retirement, you will be required to send in additional documentation such as a:
- marriage/divorce/death certificate or Spouse's Waiver of 60% Post-Retirement Survivor Benefit
Processing Time
Beneficiary changes completed online are immediate.
Mailed beneficiary change requests processing time can vary. To avoid delays be sure to include all of the required documents.
Fees
There are no fees to update your beneficiary(ies) at retirement.
